There's this zombie movie or trailer or something. I think it's for a game. Everything goes backwards and it is just so damn heartbreaking!

You may be talking about DEAD ISLAND.

Possibly the most emotionally touching, most emotionally wrenching, certainly one of the most horrific zombie movies ever made.

It all takes place in the space of less than three minutes and it's animated.

And on top of everything else, it was meant to be a trailer for a video game.

February 16, 2011: IGN first announces this trailer. Gamers saw it and DEAD ISLAND was as good as sold! Non-gamers saw it and were agog!

Is this the hottest Zombie trailer ever made? That's hard to say. There is also 2010's NIGHT OF THE LIVING TREKKIES!

Lionsgate is Making a Movie Based On the Dead Island Trailer
It doesn't get any more official than an announcement from Lionsgate motion picture group president Joe Drake; there will be a Dead Island movie, and it sounds like it will be the first major motion picture based on a video game trailer.

In the last twenty-four hours, zombie horror game Dead Island has climbed into the top trending topics on Twitter and has merited coverage by numerous blogs and entertainment sites thanks to a provocative three-minute "announcement trailer." There are even rumors that the property is being considered for a movie option.
