Thom Beers Fast Tracks Graphic Novel into First Feature "Chopper Zombie" in Development at Original Productions
Thom Beers, best known for his television success with prime time mega hits "Ice Road Truckers," "The Deadliest Catch" and "Monster Garage" has sped into the fast lane by announcing active development of his first feature based on his graphic novel "Chopper Zombie." Created by Beers, the "Chopper Zombie" movie is anticipated to go into production early spring 2009, and will be produced by Beers and Original Productions' President Philip Segal.
The graphic novel CHOPPER ZOMBIE will be released at Comic-Con International next week (July 24-27, San Diego Convention Center, SDCC) by Devil's Due Publishing and was penned by Beers and Todd Livingston ("The Black Forest") with cover artist Scott Keating. According to the publisher, advance sales from major booksellers such as Barnes & Noble and Amazon.com have been brisk. Limited edition copies will be available at Comic-Con with "Chopper Zombie" landing in stores on July 30, 2008.
"We've been doing series like 'Biker Build-Off' and 'Monster Garage' because I love choppers. My son Max, who's ten, loves zombies. He told me that choppers and zombies go together," said creator Thom Beers. "So, we gotta' do it! Choppers and zombies. Creating a graphic novel and taking it right into a feature is a truly awesome experience, and wait until you see this chopper at Comic-Con," added Beers.
"Chopper Zombie" film producer Segal will participate in the Devil's Due Presents Panel on Thursday, July 24 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. (Room 8, SDCC) to meet with entertainment industry insiders regarding the graphic novel and forthcoming theatrical release. The Chopper itself will be previewed at the Devil's Due Booth #2635 (SDCC) during the entire convention. Chopper Zombie Day is set for Sunday, July 27 where the creative team including Beers, Segal and Livingston will be available to sign limited editions of "Chopper Zombie" the graphic novel.
"Chopper Zombie" follows the fate of a Taz, a brilliant motorcycle builder who becomes the victim of his own success when he refuses to sell his formula for a new super-fuel to a dangerous corporation. When a team of thugs drowns him in his own toxic creation, he rises from the dead with a score to settle. |

FISHER & DANZIG: TOGETHER AGAIN
LOS ANGELES, CA: The Dark Lord of metal, Glenn Danzig (777: I LUCIFERI), has tapped outlaw filmmaker Hart D. Fisher to edit his VEROTIKA short film "She Only Likes Men." That's right, the team that brought you the single most controversial comic story in the last 40 years ("A Taste of Cherry" from VEROTIKA #4. This is the comic book that led local police to shut down Planet Comics and has been deemed "Obscene Material" by the state of Oklahoma) has reunited on the twisted tale of a woman with peculiar tastes in men.
Written and directed by Danzig, "She Only Likes Men" is the first in a planned series of adaptations taken from the pages of VEROTIKA. "I'm pretty damn excited about working with Glenn again." Said Mr. Fisher. "We raised some serious hell the last time we brought the pain at Verotik, this project promises more of the same."
Glenn Danzig is an American singer, songwriter, musician, entrepreneur and a progenitor of the Horrorpunk genre of music. He is the founder of bands The Misfits, Samhain, and Danzig. He also owns the Evilive record label and Verotik, an adult-oriented comic book publishing company.

Hart D. Fisher is an underground horror legend who has finished up work producing THE BUNKER, the world's first feature film written and directed by a blind director (Joe Monks), and has most recently been signed to produce horror themed programming (under the American Horrors brand) for Global Broadcasting & Syndication Inc.

INTERVIEW WITH DEAD MEN TELL NO TALES DWIGHT MACPHERSON
This month I got the chance to interview Dead Men Tell No Tales' Dwight MacPherson. Dwight gives the lowdown on the next installment of Dead Men, as well as what extra pirate booty one can expect in the upcoming Dead Men Tell No Tales TPB.
MP: The Shadowline releases of The Surreal Adventures of Edgar Allan Poo and Archibald Saves Christmas have been well received by comic fans. With your recent success, was coming back to work on DMTNT something you always had in mind or were you approached for a 2nd volume?
DM: I actually finished writing Dead Men: Decimation in July of 2006 after being approached by Sean about a sequel. To be quite honest, this is something I wanted to see happen much sooner. I love the "Dead Men Universe" and would really like to expand it. Whether that happens or not is entirely up to Mr. Sean O'Reilly.
MP: Speaking of the next installment how is Dead Men: Decimation coming along? What can you tell us about it?
DM: To my knowledge, we are in need of an inker to finish issues 2 and 3. The pencils for all three issues are complete and - I believe - the entire first issue is inked. I can tell you that Dead Men: Decimation takes place in present times. Blackbeard and every other undead pirate have been chasing the Holy Grail since we last saw them and this volume brings that great chase into present times and finally brings an end to the curse once and for all.
MP: I hear there is also a DMTNT tpb that collects volume 1 in the works. Is there any extra pirate booty in this treasure chest of zombie goodness?
DM: Yes! In fact, it will be in June's Previews... finally. [laughs] There are some extra goodies, sure. We've been able to include more pin-ups, pirate prose goodness, and a forward by B. Clay Moore. The graphic novel itself is absolutely gorgeous! When you see it, you're really going to flip. I'm extremely happy with the complete package.
